Rebuilding Together Earns 4-Star

Charity Rating from Charity Navigator

Article type: Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – May 21, 2010 – Rebuilding Together, the nation’s leading nonprofit working to preserve affordable homeownership, recently earned a 4-star charity rating for the sixth consecutive year from Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest charity evaluator.  Rebuilding Together focuses its outreach and donations on revitalizing homes and communities by way of performing essential home renovations for low-income families, the elderly, people with disabilities, and veterans. This mission and work has been recognized by Charity Navigator as being executed in a fiscally exceptional manner, outperforming most other charities in America.

“We are proud to announce Rebuilding Together has earned our sixth consecutive 4-star rating for its ability to efficiently manage and grow its finances. Only 3% of the charities we rate have received at least 6 consecutive 4-star evaluations,” stated Ken Berger, President and CEO of Charity Navigator in a letter to Rebuilding Together. “This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Rebuilding Together from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of its trust.”  Rebuilding Together reports that for every dollar raised, 89% is spent on direct program expenses. Every day, Rebuilding Together fulfills not only its mission, but its responsibility to donors, supporters, volunteers, and the community.

“Rebuilding Together is proud of its consistent achievements in the nonprofit industry, and we are pleased to accept this great rating from Charity Navigator,” said Gary A. Officer, President and CEO of Rebuilding Together. “We continually are working to keep costs low while providing even greater outreach to low-income homeowners and communities across our country. We proudly wear the 4-star rating throughout our practices.”
